Fr Roger Morgan's Sunday Homily 7.28.24 at the 11AM Mass

In his July 28th sermon, Fr. Roger Morgan discussed Jesus feeding the 5000, urging trust in God’s abundant provision. He invited hope in divine abundance, reconciliation, and faith in the Eucharist and Church teachings, especially on sexuality.

In his sermon on July 28th, 2024, Fr. Roger Morgan reflected on the miraculous event of Jesus feeding the 5000, highlighting the responses of St. Philip and St. Andrew when Jesus tested them. Fr. Morgan emphasized that Jesus, aware of the crowd’s hunger, posed a question to Philip: “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” Philip, thinking practically, estimated the cost and concluded it would be impossible to feed such a large crowd with their limited resources. St. Andrew, however, brought forward a boy with five barley loaves and two fish, though he also expressed doubt about their sufficiency. Fr. Morgan explained that these responses illustrate the human tendency to focus on limitations rather than on the abundance of God’s provision. He encouraged the congregation to trust in God’s providence, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges, reminding them that with faith, even the smallest offerings can be multiplied to meet the needs of many. We should focus on God’s abundance, knowing that His blessings are limitless and He is always ready to provide for us generously.

Quote from Fr. Morgan's Sermon

“The grace of the sacraments are within you”

-Fr. Roger Morgan

Father Roger Morgan is renowned for his consistently insightful and meaningful messages to the faithful. His dedication to celebrating the Mass reverently and beautifully has brought a renewed sense of reverence to the sanctuary. Most notably, at the 11 am Mass on Sundays, he incorporates traditional Latin hymns and the full solemn form, blending elements of the 2002 Missal with timeless traditions. This High Mass helps the faithful, both new and old, to appreciate the infinite richness of the Mass and fosters a deeper belief in the true presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, situated in the tabernacle of the newly renovated high altar.

In his July 28th sermon, Fr. Morgan emphasized the importance of focusing on God’s abundant provision instead of our limitations. He invited us to hope in divine abundance as we reflect on the “bread of life discourse” in the Gospel of John. This enriched liturgical experience deeply resonates with the congregation and enhances their spiritual journey, reminding them that God’s blessings are limitless and He is always ready to provide generously for His people.
